Hello Members,
I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. Already more than a third of the year has
passed.
Our first camp of the year (Victor Harbor), my first as president, is over. I felt the weekend
went very well, but much too fast.
As usual, the demonstrators did a wonderful job, with a
lot of variety in their presentations.
The Committee, as always, made every thing, from the trading table to the raffle, just
seem to happen. We all know they do a lot of work behind the scene, so a very big
thankyou to all who were involved in making our camps possible, both before and at the
camp.
Tonka’s cards were a great success. I found time to make one myself. Usually when we have had Tonka’s cards at our club I am too busy to finish one.
It was wonderful to welcome not only four new S.A. campers, and the return of some who had not attended a camp for some time, but also three visitors from Victoria. They fitted right in from the time they joined us for lunch on Friday to the end of the camp and we hope to see them again next year. The staff at the centre were very helpful, even to supplying a cut lunch for one of the husbands so he could go fishing. Unfortunately he didn’t have much luck with the fish.
The fashion Parade and the raffle on Saturday night were both successful, and the competition was well contested, the winning item being a lovely round lace table cloth.
The quiz that followed was fun. A few of the answers were a little suspect, but as usual, the quiz master is always right.
The month of May for me, seems to be following the trend of time flying, with our church fete, and the re-opening of our Thrift Shop on the first weekend, Mother’s Day on the 2nd weekend and our 50th Wedding Anniversary on the 3rd weekend. (Saturday 19th) I still can’t believe how quickly the last 50 years have gone, but when I look at our family and realise how grown up our grandchildren have become, two even presenting us with great grandchildren, I hope we are granted many more years to enjoy together.
This Newsletter has more information about Susan Guagliumi’s workshop and also the attendance forms.
We are also looking forward to taking part in the Quilting and Embroidery Show at Wayville in November. I will be needing helpers for the Show and will be putting a roster together by the AGM in September. If you can help please let me know.
Happy Knitting
Shirley Hooper.
